i wish i could see the intentions
of all.

before I walk into,
journey through
your life.
i would like to know what
your intentions
with me are.

likewise with you.
i don't let many people
in so very close
to my heart.
so, i evaluate early who
will be a forever friend
and who doesn't care
for my
heart.

these people who don't care
for my heart deep down?
i will encourage you,
look out for you,
be a friend for the mean time.
but when our trains depart,
don't expect me to pursue you.
why would i if you don't really care about
me.

you need to know:
if you are enjoying being my friend
because i listen to you really well
and empathise with you.
but don't care to listen
and ask about my qualms,
my hurts
and my worries?
then that is not true friendship.
some people may call that narcissism or
one-sided-ness.
it is not a partnership i am willing to pursue.
